GCWN Wins Legal 500 ESG Award for Mental Health & Wellbeing Initiative of the Year

Last night in London, the General Counsel Wellbeing Network (GCWN) was named Winner of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Initiative of the Year at the Legal 500 UK ESG Awards 2026.

The award recognises GCWN’s work in supporting senior in-house counsel through a leadership-focused approach to wellbeing—creating trusted, closed-door spaces for reflection, peer connection, and practical tools that strengthen performance under pressure.

The recognition follows GCWN’s recent feature in Legal Business, which explored the increasing demands on General Counsel and the role of the network in helping leaders navigate sustained pressure, isolation, and accelerating change.

Since its launch, GCWN has grown into a global community of over 500 senior legal leaders, with active chapters in the UK and Middle East, and expansion underway across Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Dr Steven MacGregor, Founder & CEO of GCWN, commented:

“It’s encouraging to receive this recognition. It provides validation for the journey so far and the openness of the GC community to engage with wellbeing as a core part of leadership and performance.

More importantly, we hope it supports the continued growth of the network and its ability to have a meaningful, positive impact for senior in-house counsel around the world.”

As GCWN continues to evolve, its focus remains on working with a small number of aligned partners and an engaged global membership to redefine how legal leadership is supported, moving beyond reactive wellbeing initiatives towards a more proactive, performance-oriented model.
