GCWN shortlisted for ESG Programme of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2026

The General Counsel Wellbeing Network (GCWN) has been shortlisted for ESG Programme of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2026.

GCWN appears alongside a number of leading UK and international law firms, reflecting the growing recognition of leadership sustainability, decision-making under pressure, and peer connection as strategic priorities within the legal profession.

Now supporting more than 500 senior in-house legal leaders globally, GCWN was created to help General Counsel sustain performance in increasingly complex and high-pressure environments, reframing wellbeing not as a peripheral initiative, but as a leadership and governance capability.

The shortlist recognises GCWN’s work across the UK, Middle East, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including workshops, webinars, and peer-led discussions focused on resilience, leadership under uncertainty, psychological safety, and sustainable performance.

Unlike traditional internal wellbeing programmes, GCWN operates as an independent cross-market platform designed specifically for senior in-house counsel.

“What makes GCWN distinctive is that it creates trusted space for senior legal leaders to step back, reflect honestly, and learn from peers facing similar pressures.

The fact that this work is being recognised alongside some of the legal sector’s largest institutions reflects how conversations around leadership, governance, and human sustainability are changing.”

— Matt Wilson, Chief Legal Officer, Fremantle & Advisory Board Member, GCWN

Dr Steven MacGregor, Founder & CEO of GCWN, commented:

“We’re delighted to be shortlisted.

It’s encouraging validation of the journey so far, but more importantly recognition of the openness and trust shown by the GC community itself.

We hope this helps us continue building meaningful support for senior in-house counsel around the world as the pressures and responsibilities of legal leadership continue to evolve.”

The Legal Business Awards 2026 will take place in London on 29th September.
